Official rules
How the 2027 Cup is played, scored and won, in plain words.
The short version
- Any company with staff in North Idaho can enter, at any size. Owners and employees 18 and older play.
- A day counts when you log a workout, log a meal, set a personal best or hit your daily plan. One per day.
- Your score is your team’s average per person, so size never decides it.
- Winners are decided by score, never by chance.
- Prizes go to companies and their causes, never cash to any person.
Who runs the Cup
Movra, a Coeur d’Alene company, runs the North Idaho Health Cup with local partners, and its app keeps score. These rules go with the entry terms, which cover your price, paying and what happens if you can’t play.
Who can enter
Any company, nonprofit or public employer with people who work in or near the Cup’s eight towns: Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, Athol, Spirit Lake, Kellogg / Silver Valley and Sandpoint.
A company based somewhere else enters with its North Idaho location only. A company with 500 or more employees enters by department or location, and each one plays as its own team.
Every size plays in one competition for the same Cup. Your size sets only your price. The Cup runs however many companies enter.
Who can play
Owners and employees of an entered company, 18 or older: full-time, part-time or seasonal. Contractors don’t play. Families are welcome at Kickoff Day, the Saturday workouts and the finale, but only employees count toward a score.
Joining is each person’s choice. Nobody has to play, and nothing about anyone’s job, pay or benefits depends on it.
Each person plays for one team. Someone who works at two Cup companies picks one.
Players join through their company’s invite and use the Movra app at no cost to them, under the app’s own terms.
The season
Scoring runs Jan 4 – Feb 28, 2027: eight weeks, each one Monday through Sunday. Practice week, Dec 28 – Jan 3, doesn’t count, and no day before Jan 4 ever does.
Each Cup day runs from midnight to midnight.
Late entries close Jan 8. A company that enters late is scored from its first week, on the same average as everyone else, so it can still win. Anyone who joins after Jan 4 counts from the week they join.
What counts
A day counts when you log a workout, log a meal, set a personal best or hit your daily plan. One per day. Steps and sleep from your phone never count, so that data stays yours.
It measures showing up, not how hard anyone trains. A 10-second meal log counts the same as an hour at the gym, so someone who can’t exercise right now can still count every day. Opening the app or chatting with the coach doesn’t count on its own.
How companies are scored
Your company’s score is the average number of active days per person each week, from 0 to 7. Everyone who joins counts in that average, even if they stop logging.
Over the season, every score is pulled a little toward the average of all companies, and the pull fades as the weeks add up, faster for bigger teams. It keeps a five-person team’s one lucky week from beating a bigger team’s steady season, and a small team that’s really better still wins.
Every company is ranked, whatever its size.
The app does the scoring, the same way for every company, and re-scores every night.
Standings and ties
Standings post every Monday for the week before, with a Company of the Week. Final standings post Mon Mar 1.
If companies tie, the one with the bigger share of its people taking part ranks higher. If they’re still tied, the one with more people active four or more days a week ranks higher. If they’re still tied, they share the place, and their causes split the prize-pot money for the places they cover evenly.
Fair play
Log only your own activity, and only what you really did. Nobody logs for anyone else.
The app counts one day per person at most, and flags accounts that look copied or automated, like the same entry at the same minute every day. We can void a day or take a person out of the scoring.
A company may not require anyone to play, or give anyone cash, gift cards or prizes for taking part.
Serious or repeated cheating can cost a company its place and its awards. Its cause still gets its money.
Movra’s program
Any company can add Movra’s year-round program, which includes coaching to help people stick with it. Scoring is automatic and the same for every company, and only employees count.
Coaching helps people keep going. It never logs for anyone. Any judgment call about a company in the program, like a voided day or a dispute, is signed off by a Cup partner, not by Movra alone.
Prizes and awards
Winners are decided by score, never by a drawing or chance.
The Cup: a traveling trophy for the champion, with the company’s name engraved. The champion holds it for a year and defends it in 2028.
The top three: a trophy and a team celebration for each company, biggest for first, for everyone at the company whether or not they played.
Company of the Week: the best score each week, named every Monday. Each week is scored on its own, with a lighter pull toward the average, so any team can win a week.
Highest Participation goes to the biggest share of a company’s staff taking part, and Most Improved to the biggest rise from week 1 to week 8.
The Mayors’ Cup goes to the town whose companies have the best average score, among towns with three or more companies, and that town’s mayor is invited to accept it at the finale.
Each industry on the entry form with three or more companies gets its own Industry Cup, for the best score among them. Companies that pick “Something else” play for everything else.
No one gets cash, gift cards or prizes as a person. Prizes go to companies and their causes.
The causes
Half of the sponsors’ money goes to local causes. The prize pot, from the sponsors’ charity money, goes 50% / 30% / 20% to the causes of the top three companies.
The community goal is announced at kickoff. If North Idaho hits it, the presenting sponsor’s charity money is split evenly among every partner cause. If it’s missed, that money goes into the prize pot.
If a company’s cause can’t take part or can’t accept the money, the company picks another, and the money goes there. If we can’t reach the company, it’s split evenly among the partner causes. Charity money never comes back to Movra.
We pay the causes after the finale and publish every total.
Privacy
Your company sees its team’s score and how many people took part, never names, activity or health information. Other companies see only your company’s score. A player is named only if they choose to be.
Steps and sleep from phones never count, so that data never gets near anyone’s employer.
On a team of fewer than five, the team’s score can hint at how active each person is. Your company still never sees anyone’s own numbers.
Questions about a score
If a score looks wrong, email hello@northidahohealthcup.com within a week of the standings it’s in. We check it and reply, and any fix is made the same way for every company.
For the final standings, email by Wed Mar 3. They’re final after that, so every prize, the prize pot included, is settled before the finale.
Movra decides anything these rules don’t cover, the same way for everyone, with a Cup partner signing off when it involves a company in Movra’s program.
Changes to these rules
If we change these rules, we post the new version here with its date and email every captain. A change applies the same way to every company.
Draft, October 2026. Every day and time here is Pacific.
